Hyperion
Well, I can't remember who told me to read this... I finished it this weekend and nearly crashed my car getting to the bookstore for Fall of Hyperion lest I have a stroke from the massive cliff hanger. Halfway through that one now.
Bloody amazing, thought it was a bit cheezy at first, and parts are, but bloody amazing. I'm not a "scared of the dark" type (heights are a diff matter) but I was pretty much on edge every night I went to sleep right after a scene with the shrike.

You'll be blown away by Fall of Hyperion, too. Great books.A Thing of Eternity wrote:Well, I can't remember who told me to read this... I tried reading the first a few times in the past, but couldn't get much into it, even though I tried skipping between parts to see if there was something more interesting later on.
The Shrike is awsome though.

What the hell is a Shrike?
Its supposed to be a mythical hawk, but you don't seem to be talking about a bird of prey.

Google images shows it as 5th result(assuming it starts from left to right?) for both "shrike" and "the shrike".Serkanner wrote:Never seen the drawing before ... it is awesome!
I love google images.
This would be way better if it was a full body though.

I always had a crazy version of this Epstein sculpture in my mind for the Shrike... but with more knives...
