just make a 'Heretics of Dune' movie already!
I think one of the problems for a Dune movie is ithat the story presents a complex, established society. The audience have 2get on board, or.it doesn't work.
In Heretics of Dune everthing is going to pot. The society of the characters is breaking down, changing. The chracters are bewildered. Thus confusion and fast-moving events zctually works with the story. Bring on the T-probe!

Uhh what?
I agree that it would make a good movie, 'cause its one of my favorites of the original series, but I'm not really getting what you're saying.

Sorry I am typing on a phone but I stand by my ineloquently made point.
In HOD the people of the Scattering are returning and all the old orders afre being upturned, creating confusion and uncertainty. This is a more movie-friendly narrative than Dune, which is knee deep in complex history and ancient prophecies.

Paul of Dune was so bad it gave me a seizure that dislocated both of my shoulders and prolapsed my anus.

when I went to see the new ST flick I saw a preview for a 13 episode miniseries of Stephen King's Under the Dome. It'd be nice to see Dune done that way.

What about the syfy miniseries?
I watched them a bit but there was something odd to them, they seemed to follow the book better than Lynch(probably means they read Dune more than once).
(was it syfy? not sure)
Definitely a LoTR Jackson style would do wonders to revive the interest, but we all know that's not going to happen anytime soon.

I think it was the choice of colour tone I found strange.

To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting.

I'm all for anything that gets the original series some limelight.
Heretics was absolutely great too. I've always loved the concept of the Scattering. Fascinating stuff. Its a shame Frank didn't elaborate more on the cultures that formed as a result, and the way they intermingled with the old empire.
One of my favorite aspects of the book.

“The flesh surrenders itself. Eternity takes back its own. Our bodies stirred these waters briefly, danced with a certain intoxication before the love of life and self, dealt with a few strange ideas, then submitted to the instruments of Time. What can we say of this? I occurred. I am not...yet, I occurred.” - Frank Herbert

Is that not what the last 2 books explore? Perhaps I need to rereread.

I think they just barely scratched the surface. The possibilities were 'infinite'.

if the possibilities were truly "infinite" then just imagine it and it happened.

Fallacy. Infinite does not mean exhaustive. (eg. infinite number of even numbers, etc).

I'm still very proud of The Quarry but … let's face it; in the end the real best way to sign off would have been with a great big rollicking Culture novel.

I just meant infinite does not mean all-encompassing, in terms of possibilities.
