Yeah, I imagine that's a tough call to make. Futar anatomy generally seems to be as much animal as human (rather than having, say, a human body with an animal head), so I'd expect the Phibian anatomy would have a similarly balanced structure.Simon wrote:I agree, some others wanted to see a "more human" phibian so I did this second design in response to that. The more human they get, the more "Creature from the Black Lagoon" they get though
I'm guessing they don't have nipples, at any rate .
Great sketches though, Simon. Really impressive stuff.

No, no, it's A WH40K related pic, accidently posted here as Dune related. Right, Simon? Right?!
Can you guys help me? I'm having technical problems here, I could've sworn the headline for this thread was "Simon's Dune Sketches", but I see no Dune related material here, so it must be a glitch.
Or more to the point- yes, you draw quite nicely, Simon, though pity you draw prequelite shit and not real Dune.

In memory of Perach, who suffered and died needlessly.
I wish I could have been with you that one last time.

Hey Thing, good to see you again!
Oh, BTW: Exactly. The prequel stuff is more of a diversion. I have a whole lot of dunes and worms in front of me, I figure this is sort of a break from that (I've literally drawn one non-Dune pic in the last year, it was of the Joker last fall ).
Happy days though, I plan on doing something "classic" for my next diversion, maybe a little Paul smashing the Shield Wall with his Fremen
Legions?
I have one I started, which wasn't really based on anything directly from the book, it has a Fremen standing out in the open on a rock with a Harkonnen gunship thopter hovering just in front of him taking aim, the lone Fremen acting as bait because on each side of the thopter, hidden behind the rocks and in the shadows there is a razzia party preparing to pounce. The idea is cool but the pic didn't turn out as I'd hoped, so I shit canned it.

Her skin tone isn't the only thing you need to change(and is she...smiling?!), but it's good to hear you realized it and that you're only drawing Prequelite Shit (how do I do "TM" in small letters but on the top of the line?) as a mindless distraction.
I think a good scene could be the sardaukar jumping of/landing from the cliff and kicking Fremen/Atreides ass when they capture Thufir, but I guess it'll be in the comic too(that Fremen guy who gets a knife through the throat would be nice to see, he was a bit annoying).

Ahem.
No, she didn't scream. "Her last words, calm and steady, rolled through all of his memories: 'I shall go on ahead, Love.'"
I also like the first-version "Phibian" better. Not that there were any such critters, of course.
Or any "Dominic Vernus" [ahem: Vernius?]. Looks like a Village People refugee.
And the less said about the robot massacre the better. (Come on, 11,000 years from now they're still going to look like Robby the Terminator? )
