I'm not going to dignify that with an answer.

Start learning. They seem to have miss-labled this page on regular English as Canadian English though... and that bit about what we call corn dogs is bullshit.
My Girlfriend got me some Baileys as part of my gift (which was nice of her since she can't even drink it), soI've been drinking that all day while working, then she's cooking me a fancy supper (with fancy blue cheese!! for my half of whatever she cooks).Omphalos wrote:Happy Birthday, Thing. got any plan?
Tomorrow I'm going to go to the bar with her and some of my friends, probably get a little drunk (I don't actually get drunk very often). That should be great.
Then next weekend my parents are going to come over from the island and take us out to dinner. I get to make my b-day last 2 weekends.

A "forty". Good beers come in 22oz single bottles, I've heard them refered to as a "double duece" but I don't know how widespread that is.A Thing of Eternity wrote:We also call it a flat sometimes...Freakzilla wrote:A case of beer? Here we call that a case of beer.
What do you guys call a large 40oz bottle of cheap beer?

Doesn't calling it a forty just make calling a flat a two-four just feel right?

I have even less on an idea what a two-four is. You guys talking about a 8-pack of beer? or a slab?
Really though, you shouldn't be drinking so much beer on your birthday. You should be drinking 24 shots of your choice of spirits.
Happy birthday though. I turn 24 this year, I'm not looking forward to it (thankfully I've got another 8 months to go).

Negative. That's only a beer an hour. Depends on your weight but the average person can metabolize one shot/beer/glass of wine per hour.Baraka Bryan wrote:i'm 24 in just under 2 years.
i'll definitely have to work on my tolerance if I'm to finish a two-four in one day without dying of alcohol poisoning
You can drinnk beer all day at that pace and maintain a BAC of less than .03.
I know, I own my own breathalizer.

OKaaay...I'll bite. Why in the world would you own you own breathalizer?
And to the drinking a beer an hour....when I did drink (which admittedly was very little) I would nurse one beer for upto four hours.
[yes. insert groans]

The soda industry uses teh term "flat" for a case of sodas (24, or 4 - 6-packs). Beer is sold by the "case." A "40" is a 40-oz bottle of cheap beer. 40-oz of cheap wine is a "bottle." Ive never the term )two-four" before, and I used to drink the shit out of Molson. We could get that stuff for like $1.85 a six pack when I was in college. I miss those days.

"Two four" is commonly used in everyday speech, almost as much as "Have a good one". I've never been under the impression "Two four" was a regional phrase unique to Canada, but I suppose it's possible. It's in the urban dictionary for those who are interested
"They can chew you up, but they gotta spit you out."

Hey Happy Birthday! Is there a Fremen phrase that could be used? Something like: "May your water be passed to your children"A Thing of Eternity wrote:Thanks everyone. I usually don't care much about my birthday but this year I felt like celebrating it for some reason.
Only the books written by Frank Herbert are canon.
