That was good. Also enjoyed the reporter calling Gene Rodenberry a hack .

Yeah, I was waiting for the first comment on the use of the word "hack." A surefire hit on this forum

I was interesting seeing J.J. Abrams on The Colbert Report last night. At least Abrams seems to have some respect for the fact that he's working on a project that has a massive fan-base, unlike some other hacks I could mention.

The Klingon subtitles bit....
Ahem.
I have to admit, though, I laugh out loud every time the trailer plays on TV and I see them assembling a starship on a planet's surface.
But come on, it's STAR TREK, fer chrissakes! It's not like we're talking about science fiction.

that was funny:) its been over 4 years for any new Star Trek. I am looking forward to it. I am going in with open mind, and no preconceptions. Im not an ear wearing convention diehard, but like it pretty well.

I went to the first showing of the first four movies, Kirk saving the whales was just too much for me.
Paul of Dune was so bad it gave me a seizure that dislocated both of my shoulders and prolapsed my anus.

Bakula FTW!
I dont know I like startrek in a campy sort of way. I will rent this one when it comes to the rental store.
I wish they had made a film that really used all the characters from the 3-4 TV show variants. I liked Voyager and TNG I would have liked to see some kind of meshing of those two.

I thought they could have used her more, and brought back old favorites, like 7 of 9!Rakis wrote:SwordMaster wrote:Bakula FTW!

Re: Trekkies Bash New Star Trek Film
Speaking of Borg, there was a rumored synopsis on the net just before First Contact came out about a Borg invasion of the Federation with thousands of ships, they would have assimilated the Klingons and many Fed world, including earth, forcing the remnants of the Federation to ally with the Cardassians and Romulans. IIRC, that would have been a two-part movie...sounded kewl at the time...but First Contact came out with their "one cube"...SwordMaster wrote:I thought they could have used her more, and brought back old favorites, like 7 of 9!Rakis wrote:SwordMaster wrote:Bakula FTW!

I found it a little weird that one cube, just one cube was able to so utterly whip the Federation. How did they ever survive any conflicts before or after this.

A movie about the fall of the Federation would be cool...fuck, it worked for Star Wars, why not for Trek ?

Re: Trekkies Bash New Star Trek Film
As tragic and ironic as it sounds, Star Trek is shaping up as the one bright spark in the summer blockbuster line up this year. We got spoiled with The Dark Knight and Iron Man last year. But this year? Oh boy, it looks like we are in for a good raping this summer. X-Men Origins: Wolverine was crap. Terminator: Salvation looks even worse. Bayformers 2...do I even need to bash this film? And G.I. Joe...dear gawd.

I'm kind of interested in T:S. Any of these I think I can wait for the DVD though.

So... they sell popcorn in jars where you're from? They don't trust us with glass in the USA.

Re: Trekkies Bash New Star Trek Film
Star Trek I'm willing to take a risk because I like the casting. And Bale makes Terminator: Salvation a possible worthwhile watch, but I'll probably use one of my free passes to avoid any guilt. I will be avoiding Bayformers and G.I. Joe like the plague.
