Hmm, i personally wouldn't take the money. I don't think they are gonna offer you a ton anyway, since if losing money over books is their worry, then it doesn't make much sense for them to throw a lot of money at you. Plus they have to realise that buying you out isn't gonna stop anything. Is it worth it to you though to give up all the enjoyment you get out of ruining KJA writing career? I know it wouldn't be to me if i was in your posistion.

1) post the entire content of the communication (e-mail ?) here.SandChigger wrote:So, imagine you're this staunch Orthodox Herbertarian, fighting the good fight [read: raising hell and running a so-called "hate site"], and quite out of the blue someone from TOR/Macmillan, apparently on the level, contacts you and offers you a tidy little [read: vulgarly obscene] sum of money to simply cease and desist and essentially disappear quietly from the scene, with a sweet little perk of an option to consult on future projects.

Take the money first, then:
I've often thought of sending KJA's profile to Stephen Colbert for consideration as one of his "difference makers".
So what if they sue you for breech of contract, you've got money for a lawyer now! It gets blown into the public eye that a publisher payed off someone who was complaining that the new series sucks. 100,000 people would go out, buy the books (TOR happy...) and realize they were utter shit not meant for anyone over the IQ of 50 (Not so happy now TOR). KJA would then have to face the press of reporters asking him and Brian for a comment. Brian would tuck even further into his shell, KJA would do the talking and people would realize "Hey, this guy is an asshat who practices blowing himself." With all the publicity, major reviewers would be interested in publishing reviews of the new books, and I don't know how they could avoid not agreeing with the juvenile nature and quality of the new books. (nice way of saying it) KJA would get his 15 mins of fame, and never be allowed near another IP ever again. (okay, maybe Twilight...)SandRider wrote: 1) post the entire content of the communication (e-mail ?) here.

OH UNICORNS SHTUPPING CHERUBS! SUCH VISIONS OF BEAUTY I SEEEEEEEEE!!!
(ahem)
Diamonds on the soles of their feet...
Did I ever tell y'all the one about the girl a few years ago who wrote her senior thesis on the changing image of women in Disney feature animations, and about how the glass slipper is both a symbol of purity and of a virgin's vagina?
I went around for about a month with Paul Simon singing "Hushpussies are the soles of her shoes...."
Gawd I need help....

That's an interesting story. I think it's retarded, though. I doubt Disney was doing anything more than making a movie to sell. Just a case of someone looking for something that isn't there.SandChigger wrote:OH UNICORNS SHTUPPING CHERUBS! SUCH VISIONS OF BEAUTY I SEEEEEEEEE!!!

And Twilight is rather an interesting series. The outright hate it gets is great enough to rival ours towards the nuDune books. I've read some rather thorough reviews from college students basically blasting through it, pointing out the blatant sexism, approval and encouragement of abusive relationships and pedophilia, and just plain bad writing. It's great.

Re: OH Moral Dilemma: What Would You Do?
Right, Disney wanted to sell tickets (and later videos and DVDs, etc.), so the nature of the heroine characters and how they react to the world changed over time. Whether it was intentional or they were just lucky in picking up on what female viewers wanted to see, who knows. But compare Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella with Belle from Beauty & the Beast (or something newer, if there's been anything? I don't pay that much attention). (I think the "crystal vagina" shit came from an older analysis of the original folk tales, but not sure.)
Likewise, the changes in the general reading public (um, basically: shorter attention spans and lots stupider?) are one of the excuses used in justifying the dumbing down in the McDune books.
(sigh)

Not that we don't believe you, but I think I sum up the opinion of the internet at large when I say "Pics or it didn't happen"
Also, I'd take the money, inform the Daily Show and continue to be a stick in TOR/KJA's eye.
