Hi There Duniverse inhabitants!
Hi,
i'm Anna, but i call myself Norma Cenva here (since all cool names were already taken ofcourse AND because Leto II mentioned this name once in the original novels!). I'm 27, woman, living in The Netherlands and i've been a Dune-fan since I was 8, and yes, i'm serious about that!
My older brother introduced me to it, and i've also enjoyed the first Dune game on the pc, and the movie from the 80's. At first i stuck to the first two novels, but well.....we all know how that goes: you keep wanting more.
I've only recently started to reread the whole series, and as always when rereading, i'm puzzled with questions but also happy to realize i'm starting to graps the concepts more and more. So I'd like to explore things a little more wit hthe help of this forum.
Ohh by the way, I DID read all of the non-canon Pinky and the Brian stuff, and i enjoyed it even, but not as part of the Dune series, more as a sort of Dan Brownish novel.

Welcome
I don't think the author should make the reader do that much work - Kevin J. Anderson

There’s an unwritten compact between you and the reader. If someone enters a bookstore and sets down hard earned money(energy) for your book, you owe that person some entertainment and as much more as you can give. - Frank Herbert

Welcome from a fellow Dutchman. Sorry about the McDune books, but I guess you'll live.

Now, if that were actually true, I'd respond to all of the "intro" threads. I limit myself to about one in 10, though.

Howdy Norma.

Welcome whomever you want; no one is getting in your way. I'm simply pointing out that having 11 straight people type one-word "Welcome!" responses gets a bit +1 after a while. All "into" threads are like this; not just here.

Re: Hi There Duniverse inhabitants!
Glad to hear you're responding well to the original novel therapy
Seriously, it's good to hear someone getting so much more out of the original Frank Herbert books. They were written to be fine works that offer more the more you put into them. Enjoy!

I am easy and I'm also sorry if I trod on your toe, however see this from the POV of a new member having just joined, I'm very certain that they do not see it as a succession of +1s. Then again perhaps I'm a newbie, only posting in around 3 forums.TheDukester wrote:Easy, there.inhuien wrote:And here was me thinking it was all about welcoming our new members.TheDukester wrote:Now, if that were actually true, I'd respond to all of the "intro" threads. When I was new it was nice, even if people just typed something short.
