Re: The Smurfs (The Movie)
Didn't JRR have a hand in writing a dictionary? I have a vague memory of him getting stumped over the definition of a seal or some arctic animal. I sure hope it wasn't someone else.
Ring any bells?

Leto II is gone for good, except for OM. The "pearl" was just that; a miniscule portion of what Leto was, and not a compressed version of the whole. The pearl that the worms have do not make them Leto, or in any way similar to him.

They've been around for over 50 years, but for the first time they're coming to our world. The Smurfs, the little blue people from comics and TV, are getting three-dimensional in a live-action/computer-animated feature film. Watch the exclusive teaser trailer, introduced by star Neil Patrick Harris, for a first look at the new digital Smurfs, then keep reading to find out how they end up in modern-day New York City.
See Trailer Here
In the original comic stri..ugust 3, 2011.
It's Dr Woody Howser, later a NAZI officer in Starship troopers!
I hated that idea of taking the Smurfs to modern day NY!
And I don't like the 3D animation of them either epic fail! thumbs down!
Only the books written by Frank Herbert are canon.

Walrus, maybe?Tolkien's first civilian job after World War I was at the Oxford English Dictionary, where he worked mainly on the history and etymology of words of Germanic origin beginning with the letter W.
ORIGIN early 18th cent.: probably from Dutch walrus, perhaps by an inversion of elements (influenced by walvis ‘whale-fish’ ) of Old Norse hrosshvalr ‘horse-whale.’

Re: The Smurfs (The Movie)
Well thank goodness for that!
Thought of some other examples: anything spelled with a final -ff. Cliff, cuff, huff, muff, puff. Even Waff!
"What? There were nine little Waffs in that book? WTF?!"

I understand, we must enjoy the Chigger without his knowing.

I'm still very proud of The Quarry but … let's face it; in the end the real best way to sign off would have been with a great big rollicking Culture novel.
