Leto II is gone for good, except for OM. The "pearl" was just that; a miniscule portion of what Leto was, and not a compressed version of the whole. The pearl that the worms have do not make them Leto, or in any way similar to him.

Wasn't there a Robot Chicken where they tried an intervention for Popeye and his spinach problem?

Re: Reverence for the Written Word
My wife just got me a copy of Dune, Chilton red, eighth printing, and very good condition! This copy has the glossary up front, I didn't know they did that. It's a very clean and pretty copy and i'm thankful for the thoughtful gift but here's the rub; it's almost too nice to read! I guess i'm being silly, i'll most likely read it once and get a used paperback to reread again with sticky tabs, highlighter, etc.
Can I expect other differences in this Dune or is it's arrangement about it?

If it were mine, I wouldn't read it at all.
I think there's some info on the differences between editions here: http://groups.google.com/group/alt.fan. ... 100208b8e8#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Paul of Dune was so bad it gave me a seizure that dislocated both of my shoulders and prolapsed my anus.

Re: Reverence for the Written Word
Thanks for the link! There's lots of good stuff there.
The alt.fan.dune FAQ wrote:5.7.1 "Dune" first edition
Apparently, the first edition of "Dune" lacked the appendices found in
all later editions of that book, with the exception of the Terminology
of the Imperium glossary (which is located at the beginning of the
book). Final confirmation on this point is still requested.
Is that because you'd want to preserve it's quality?Freakzilla wrote: If it were mine, I wouldn't read it at all.
