No, but you can say that it's a piece of shit that doesn't do anything to improve upon the original.Superdog wrote:Am I allowed to say meh, with a side of yawn?

I sort of liked it.
The YouTube thing, I mean. Not the hats.
(Except I'm really okay with the hats, too — don't tell FZ)

It's cool as a way to test Aftereffects and other computer editing programs. Could've done with more visuals than just a woman meditating, though.
I still have no idea what they were thinking when they made Irulan say, "Oh yes, I forgot to tell you." Not only is it random, it breaks your concentration. It lets you know that you're about to watch a movie that will be unnecessarily frustrating. So at least it's honest.

Re: Fan made animated Dune movie intro
What is this, the CG version with Irulan as a hoochy belly-dancer? (I tried taking a peek at it, but YouTube froze up the Safari window somehow. Shit's been happening a lot lately. )
If that's what it is, it's OLD NEWS, Carlos. I'm sure there's at least one other thread around here somewhere with it in it.
Sure, CG is fun and all, but if someone is going to spend that much time and effort making something, WHY THE FUCK would they use the erroneous & fucked-up monologue from the beginning of the Lynch movie?! Why not get a female friend or relative with a nice voice to read the ACTUAL OPENING EPIGRAPH of Dune? Or even an original text?
In some ways it (the one I'm thinking of, at least) was a waste of time.
Edit: Got it to open; yep, it's the one I was thinking of.

Somebody should have told that to the producers of the Syfy Dune/CoD miniseries. The hats and outfits were fucking ridiculous. And their stillsuits were crap.Mr. Teg wrote:I don't think the BG were big fans of hats.

The stillsuits in the minis were more accurate than those in the movie. At least they had hoods with face masks. I believe they had cloaks over them, too.

I liked the stillsuit design, but the budget was so low they looked cheap. Everything looked cheap in the mini-series

Re: Fan made animated Dune movie intro
Yeah, the cloaks were a step up but i wasn't a big fan of the stillsuits or the portrayal of the Fremen. But then I'm a nitpicker and have a tendency to get very attached to the way I envision things in my head when reading and scoff at most filmmakers' attempts at their own interpretation of a story's look-and-feel.

Frank said in the interview when making Dune, visual interpretation was a whole other language. I tend to agree,
but they really screwed up with the hats thing. I thought the emperor dressed a little silky, My idea of an emperor is a harder
