Yea, but I thought they liked scat porn, what with their fascination with crap. :P
In memory of Perach, who suffered and died needlessly.

I wish I could have been with you that one last time.

Looks like the screen play will be written by Joshua Zetumer...not much info is avail. about him, but from reading this: http://www.variety.com/article/VR111796 ... =2607&cs=1 it sounds like he might actually not be a bad choice.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1160419/

Think again. We've talked about this just before you got here, but I think it raises some serious red flags when they take a guy relatively new to screenwriting for something as huge as Dune. Especially when two of the producers are known hacks who've shown a tendency toward tearing FH's work to shreds. They're going to fill that movie with all kinds of stupid shit.

I think their might be some merrit to an "unknown" writting the script...at least he isn't a known destroyer of books and he might be "fresh" enough or passionate (in his newness) enough to resist the the mutilating influence of KJA and BH...I liked that he was concerned about the human interactions of his characters...after all, thats really the core of Dune, humanity...

If I'm repeating old arguements, forgive me...I could find the old posts...I'm not too techno-savvy...

There are no old posts, we're a relatively new forum.

sorry, I meant "counld not find"...could you tell me where I can read this:

Also, while Dune is huge for all of us...and it might be the most selling sci-fi book ever, its still marginal in the grand pop-culture scheme of things. In no way am I trying to belittle Dune or FH or your concerns, I'm just trying to keep things in persepctive...This isn't Star Trek, Star Wars, Aliens, or Harry Potter. THOSE franchiese are true cash cows...Those franchieses get the best of the best because those franchieses offer HUGE returns. (And still churn out some pretty aweful stuff) There are no Dune t-shirts sold at retailers across the world, no toys in Wal-mart, no PS3 and wii games, and the "offical" Dune website is a joke (hardly to be considered professional even)...Paramount will save where they can because Dune has the potential to be a box office smash, a cult classic, or a huge and totally flop.

How much anyone want to bet that they put in some "higher power" nonsense, maybe injected into when Paul coming into power amongst the Fremen...just to justify Normacle or to over simplify the Missionaria. I'm scared of what they're going to do with the subtleties, it'd be better to leave some of them out altogether than to dumb them down. :vomit:

If Normacle shows up in the movie, its all over...

I know the mini series strays (and sometimes meanders to a completely different trail in a completely different park) but are there any inconsistancies that bring the prequals into the movie? (I haven't read them) I thought there was an interview with either KJA or BH on the DVD about how they didn't have anything to do with the mini series...Just wondering if any presidence has been set for that kind of thing...

Not that I know of...but then the Lynch movie and mini-series aren't something I obsess over. ;)

I'm sure this new movie (if it gets made) will set a number of precedents...and none of them good.

No, but you can order one from Hairy Ticks of That Desert Planet Store on cafepress and pay only for the shirt and postage (I take NO commission, make nothing off them) and have it delivered in just a few days! ;)

This is currently our hottest item:

(Omph has bought ten recently...???) but this one is fairly popular, too:

I AM NOT ADVERTISING!

Last year I did a contest (with a $50 Amazon gift certificate as first prize) for the first person to buy a shirt and get Kevin to sign it. Here's my blog post on the winner:

(I'm really not flogging the stuff there, but the shirts are good quality and the design is still holding up on the one I bought for myself after nearly a year. Can't vouch for the thongs, though. Ask Omph. ;)
