I don't agree with you there. Carbon credit trading is about putting a cost on to the damage you do, which IS an incentive to do less damage. The only way cleaner practices are going to take hold are by driving business to do so. it wasn't an environmental policy at all. it was just a socialist wealth distribution plan. its aim was to force the large carbon producers to pay poor African and South American countries for their carbon credits so they could 'legally' produce the same amount they already produced. It didn't create incentives to reduce carbon emissions production at all, just spread the wealth around while maintaining the same levels.
I'm all for humanitarian aid to poor countries, but trying to accomplish it under the feel-good guise of environmentalism is just stupid. I'm glad the US didn't sign on and Harper ignored the bullshit Liberal promises once he got into office.
