I can't believe this is what the Dune saga has come to: fan fiction written by The Whitest Man in the World and a 65-year-old shut-in who is scared of his own shadow.

I swear to God, it makes me sad.

OIC. I thought the reference was to the forums. I just looked at the main page. Its rendering like crap in MSIE for me here at work. Nothing is alligned.

Geez! there are even some links at the top left that are exactly the same color as the background. What a shitty job!

Looks like some stills from a shitty 80's "buddy" movie. I'd bet that BH played the role of the semi-intelligent yet messy german shepherd with gruff ways and a heart of gold while KJA played the assinine OCD master who had a lot to learn about friendship and getting along with others.

The pix remind me of those strips of five you used to get out of a photo booth at an amusement park or something. (Do they still have those?)

Yeah, you can't see the fanboy fluffers on the ends of their dicks. They're cumming "simultaneously and" ... wretchedly? :?

I think someone above said that the blog is gone. If you load that page in Firefox it still looks like shit, though a bit better. The blog link is visible there. Here it is.

Yeah, there's a link and a blog there, but only two pages of recent entries. All the old flat-HTML-file blogs are gone.

Here's an interesting item:
Introducing the new dunenovels.com website
Submitted by admin on Thu, 2009-07-30 20:54

The release of THE WINDS OF DUNE isn’t the only Dune-related news this
month. As you have already noticed (since you’re here), the official Dune
website has undergone quite a transformation. A major update and
modernization of the site has been long overdue, and this new version of
dunenovels.com offers many possibilities for users.

Kim Herbert and Byron Merritt have taken point on watching over the
extensive revamping job. Over the years, dunenovels.com has grown in size,
in content, and in subsidiary directions, so this was much more than a face
lift.

Add new comment Read more
So this has actually been up a few days and we're just now noticing. That says a lot about how often people go through the portal page, huh? ;)

"Kim Herbert and Byron Merritt have taken point...." OK, that explains everything!

I wonder if these Ciplex people are converting everything from the old files and old blogs or if they're just going to let them go?

This is typical of the half-assed approach of the HLP towards everything web-related.

Towards everything. Period.

No offense to Kim, I've got nothing against her.

Well, maybe you should.

I'll admit that she seems like a nice enough person in the few interactions I've had with her.

But like all the other effectively faceless associate members of the HLP, she goes along with the decisions made, I assume, by Brian and the controlling non-member, KJA. At least, we never (and probably will never) hear about any dissension in the ranks.

So she's just as guilty of complicity in the rape of the legacy as Byron and the rest. And she supports it by being an online Herbert presence.

No one is innocent.

I meant personally.

So did I.

Her decision to compromise whatever morals and integrity she has and sell out on her grandfather was a personal decision, no?

I mean I've never interacted with her and she's not actively destroying FH's legacy that I know of.

I'm with the Tick.

I've looked the other way on the "Kim's a nice person, she's
not really involved in the books or the website, she's just a girl" &etc.

We know what an idiot Merritt is. After the shuffle of the boxes on the
front page Over There, to no advantage I can see, making an even
bigger mess of it than Uncle Mike did, well, she's an idiot, too.

And now complicit.

Fuck all the living Herberts, their spawn, and the worm they rode in on.

The only truth I can see behind this is that they have added Anderson's non Dune shit. Other than that the website would have drastically shrunk over the years if they had had the balls to remove posts of those whom they banned and freakbanned.

Have they added pages for selling Dune-related merch? That would qualify, I think.

Checked out the update.. it is crap. The slider for the books on the main page has no auto control you have to wait for it, and its slow as shit. If you mouse over it stutters a bit but doesnt speed up.

They have a media page, which has some viedo and images on it. I cant play video's at work, but the images are stupid, KJA standing next to BH in various "i about to kiss ya" or "dynamic loser Pose" views. One of the images of the sandworm attacking a harvester says from lynch movie, but its fromt he PC games.. idiots.

The blog has the "Shirt off my back" crap from KJA's word fire blog, and offers the T-shits for sale. There is a comment box at the bottom. I added one stating " this has nothing to do with DUNE why are you selling these off this site?"

The cover for "POD" in the slider box is not the one it was sold with, must have deciced to display with this new cover to try and show some continuity between it and new "WOD" book.

forum looks the same..

As for Kim Herbert.. Bah.. in with the others.. but just a cog in the machine at this point.

And STILL the newest post in the WoD forum was Byron's on August 1 giving the link to that bullshit review by that Ken_F character.

No indication at all on the boards that a new piece of shit has been squeezed out.

Come on, arnoloco, get yer ass in gear!

Is that the one that takes to to the review with all of our comments? I'm surprised he doesn't delete it now.
