Yeah, that's why the call it "cliche"
In all seriousness, I'm on board for the last half of season four. BSG may have jumped the shark in season 3, but the thing with BSG is at least the show is going to end. They said so since the beginning of the series and the narrative has largely played out that way as well. There are still several permutations that can make the series as a whole good and I'll enjoy watching it over and over again as long as it has a strong finale.
What I can't stand is television without direction, like shows that go on for 9 seasons but nothing changes. X-Files, Stargate, Lost, etc. The quickly cease to be shows and are just advert vehicles. I want a show with a beginning, middle and end. Like Seinfeld says, if I want a long boring story with no point to it, I have my life

Exactly. The problem is that as long as a show is profitable, the networks will drag it on and on, without a care for the integrity of the show. However a show ends should be evident throughout the series, even right from the pilot episode. It's about being cohesive, and making an awesome product.GamePlayer wrote:"All this has happened before and it will happen again"

You know who does that well? Ricky Gervais. Both Extras and The Office ran only two seasons each, and it resulted in overall products that maintained a certain artistic unity.
And look at the Americanized version of The Office. It has gone from somewhat realistic workplace comedy, to a nonsense-fest. Have you noticed how Michael and Dwight are no longer the only idiotic characters on the show? Now, every character is retarded in some way. Even though the show still makes me laugh, the overly-quirkiness of everyone in that office annoys me greatly.

Its so fraking obvious.
But the Final Final Cyclon will be released in Winter 2012 with Kevin J. Anderson's Exciting NEW Duodecology: Battlestar: UltraValkarye Agressiva Go!: The Next Generation.
You forgot about the prequel tetralogy (it's even better than a trilogy)!

Well, since Norma is The Oracle of Time, and the Oracle maintains the functionality of the Cylon Base-Ship while spewing seemingly incoherent nonsense... shit. I think we just helped KJA find a way to inject his turds into BSG.MICAH wrote:-good looking out on the pic sandrider mm mm mmmmm

I've heard that posited. However, I think a slight clue could be culled fromMICAH wrote: rumour has it that the final cylon isn't in the last supper pic.

ok, so far:
Duke & Amp think it's Felix.
(altho Duke also has a hold-out for Muffit the Daggit and/or Kyle MacLachlan's hair)
GamePlayer has Minmay and/or Oprah Winfrey (or Ellen Tigh)
Sole Man says it's his Father's Penis.
Freak votes for Paul McCartney.
Micah says Norma.
Drunken Idaho says Starbuck or Laura (it's not Starbuck)
Omph thinks it's the Galactica itself (or Ellen Tigh).
SandChigger nominates A Thing of Eternity as the Final Cylon (or Gaeta),
and I know it's Lee Adama ....

And, whoever it is, unless it is the TV writing miracle of all time, it is going to be skull-crushingly lame.
They (BG producers and writers) messed up, I'm telling you. Too many accolades were heaped upon them in the first season and they began to believe they were infallible. Now a perfectly good series has been ruined for at least the past season by turning it into nothing more than a "Guess the Cylon" game.
That's some weak-ass shit right there.

it is, and it's sort of a shame. this is good example for all those people out there who still don't get why the OH get so riled up. BSG is a TV show, a remake of a really lame old TV show that was itself a direct capitalization on Star Wars, a semi-decent movie for its time, which devolved into kiddie comic book fare. The first parts of the new BSG were pretty good TV, had hot chicks and alot of well-done drama, but it was still just TV. No one expected great leaps of philosophical art here, so if the writers Lost it up, well, so what ? It's entertainment, nothing more.

I loved Tigh's reaction when the four cylons first met and realized what they were. His face is priceless! "Oh no... CLOSE THAT FRACKIN' DOOR!"Rakis wrote:Adama is the final Cylon...
It would link it to the new series...
Tigh would flip big time

Tigh has become my favourite character. It used to be Baltar, who has become a pathetic, whiny bitch.

the last parts of the series seem to be all about breaking down Adama. I say Laura will die a horrible, lingering death, then it will be revealed that Lee is the Final Cylon, (his best friend, his son). Adama freaks clean out, and while Lee & Kara are trying to forge a peaceful resolution, Adama launches an all-out attack, resulting in the death of absolutely everyone, except the half-breed kids, left alone on Earth to be Adam & Eve.Drunken Idaho wrote:I loved Tigh's reaction when the four cylons first met and realized what they were. or something else entirely that has no basis in what has come before ....
or the Final Cylon is Dee, just to make another hot-chick cylon model ....
or it was all a Stewie Griffin virtual reality simulation ....

I've read a fair amount of speculation that an Adama (most likely Lee, as you say) will either be the final Cylon or will otherwise figure heavily in an Adam(a) & Eve-type scenario.SandRider wrote:... except the half-breed kids, left alone on Earth to be Adam & Eve.
But, man, if the writers hinge their most important plot development around the spelling of a name, there will need to be a new entry for "lame" in Webster's.
That sort of Adam-Adama thing is something that KJA would come up with and then think he's brilliant.

wow, I guess that's one of those things that's so obvious I just flat-out missed the connection.
so Lee's the final cylon, he & Kara are Adam & Eve, and the half-breed kids are there to solve the old "Where'd Cain & Abel get their wives" problem ?
ok, you know what ? right here and now, I just don't care anymore ...
