Kevin J Anderson ‏@TheKJA
So, final outline for Saga of Shadows #1 is 122 pages. Almost a first draft!

I fail to understand how an outline for ANY novel, even if it is War and Peace, can be 122 pages. Isn't an outline supposed to be very brief, and at most, describing each scene in a sentence...? Like five-ten pages at most for a decent-sized novel?

Remember that this is but one step before near-perfect prose is produced. You cannot just wing that shit, man.

Read the wikipedia page for his saga mess, and you wont ask that question. To keep track of all the worlds and character crap he created for it, 122 page outline seems small for any new endeavor in that world again.

NO matter how many pages he uses for outline or books, it will be senseless hollow garbage.

Don't forget that he's a lying piece of crap who's impressed by numbers. (even numbers he made up/length=quality)

edit; ...with the right teacher and a few hundred years, naw- he'd still be a hack.

He probably writes a 1-page outline for each chapter, then fills in the 'details' and pads that with at least 10% repetition.

That used to be my technique for essays at school, write just the basic structure,
intro
pros
cons
conclusion

then for each pro find its con to flesh out your argumentation, then all you had to do was inject some filling and tada, 3 page essay, bland as fuck but it followed the blueprint for unimaginative (or lazy) students.

It seems the hack of universes hasn't evolved beyond that point, like a teenager he doesn't care much about anything but still wants to be rewarded for his non-efforts.

He sure doesn't understand cause and effect. Maybe he told them that he would be reading from one of his books and this was the response.

So to give credit where it's due, I actually thought the Mayan Apocalypse/montezumas revenge gag was pretty funny.

This is KJA. Effect comes first, and more often than not the cause has nothing to do if not opposite of its effect.

Keith's been real busy on 'Mentwats' recently:

December 26 - Now to do 3rd edit of MENTWATS OF DUNE—160,500 words.

January 10 - MENTWATS OF DUNE draft 3 edit, up to p423 (of 644).

January 13 - 102 pages left to edit in MENTWATS OF DUNE.

January 14 - 15 more pages to edit in MENTWATS OF DUNE.

January 15 - MENTWATS OF DUNE, draft 3, sent off to Brian Herbert.

Don't you just love the care and attention he takes to make sure every word, phrase and sentence is just perfect - :puke:

Mentwats... I approve. :D
