Hehehe.
We have to have another day when we take over the forums. That was fun. We were like a band on tour, crashing threads all over with our brilliant new singles :)

"fo schu" :)

Same here. We're being flattened with snow. I suppose it was only a matter of time before winter actually arrived. Mores the pity :)

There is no reason to ever check that yahoo email account.

I've got probably 2 dozen or so, used to create useraccounts & etc.
With the exception going there to click an activation link, I never look
at them.

For one thing, the yahooo mail page is stOOpidly slow loading.
And two, yes, it IS a spam circus.

No, they're on vacation right now.

I love that what our parliment does is SO important, and SO essential to our country, that it's perfectly fine to shut it down completely for 2 months during a serious economic situation.

One more point for you namby-pamby egomanical geeks/nerds who don't know anything about football
and are reluctant to join the pool because you don't want to "look bad" on an effing internet forum :

On your pick sheet, you can hover over the game, and a "Cheat Sheet" popup will appear showing favorites,
and the % of picks already made (I'm assuming across the pools, Duke ? Not just ours ?).

All those picks look pretty solid.

First games are tomorrow, but you can join after that as well.

"Why shouldn't I join in the football game? That's a tough one. But I'll take a shot.

Say I'm working at the NSA, and somebody puts a code on my desk, something no one else can break. Maybe I take a shot at it and maybe I break it. And I'm real happy with myself, 'cuz I did my job well. But maybe that code was the location of some rebel army in North Africa or the Middle East, and once they have that location, they bomb the village where the rebels are hiding. Fifteen hundred people that I never met, never had no problem with, get killed.

Now the politicians are saying, "Oh, send in the marines to secure the area", 'cuz they don't give a shit. It won't be their kid over there, getting shot. Just like it wasn't them when their number got called, 'cuz they were pulling a tour in the National Guard. It'll be some kid from Southie over there taking shrapnel in the ass. He comes back to find that the plant he used to work at got exported to the country he just got back from. And the guy who put the shrapnel in his ass got his old job, 'cuz he'll work for fifteen cents a day and no bathroom breaks. Meanwhile he realizes the only reason he was over there in the first place was so that we could install a government that would sell us oil at a good price. And of course the oil companies used the little skirmish over there to scare up domestic oil prices. A cute little ancillary benefit for them but it ain't helping my buddy at two-fifty a gallon. They're taking their sweet time bringing the oil back, of course, maybe even took the liberty of hiring an alcoholic skipper who likes to drink martinis and fuckin' play slalom with the icebergs, it ain't too long till he hits one, spills the oil and kills all the sea life in the North Atlantic.

So now my buddy's out of work. He can't afford to drive, so he's walking to the fuckin' job interviews, which sucks because the shrapnel in his ass is giving him chronic hemorrhoids. And meanwhile he's starving 'cuz every time he tries to get a bite to eat the only blue plate special they're serving is North Atlantic scrod with Quaker State. So what did I think? I'm holding out for something better. I figure: fuck it, while I'm at it why not just shoot my buddy, take his job, give it to his sworn enemy, hike up gas prices, bomb a village, club a baby seal, hit the hash pipe and join the National Guard? I could be elected President.

Baraka Bryan wrote:meh, usually the only (american) football I watch all year is the superbowl. I go to a SB party, pick a winner and score at random, cheer for that team and see how it pans out for me. last year I was 1 of only 2 people at the party who picked the giants over the patriots so I won a few prizes :D
edit to add: 1000!
I seriously dislike Pro Football, and haven't actually followed it in YEARS. The last ten years or so, my overall interest in College ball has been pretty low, too. Once you get hooked on Frinday Nights Lights, West Texas High School Six-man, everything else just looks like bullshit.

The college bowls are just an American Tradition, like hot dogs, apple pie, and rebelling against the government. Pro ball's all about money. College ball is getting that way, but it's mostly about the Kids, the schools, traditions, rivalries, and so forth.

Yes, it's a survey of everyone who has entered this pool, not just us.

I just clicked on everything in the left column and left the order as is. I've probably got a better shot at that than if I actually tried to guess. The team name was just too perfect not to be a part of.

Here we go. Four games today:

Wake Forest v. Navy (I took WF)
Fresno State v. Colorado State (I took FrSt)
South Florida v. Memphis (I took SFla, and this will be the game I actually watch)
Arizona v. BYU (I took the underdog, BYU, and I want to change it this morning, but I won't)

Nekhrun - are you jimmy_internet ?

Good luck to all - it's gonna be a long and hard road ....
To those who did not join : meh. Meh, I say.

And I've got to get dressed out and head into town - the Wild West Company I
occasionally dude around with is having gunfights in the streets downtown today.

Good mornin', chilluns !

I lost actual cashee-money on that disaster, although it looked good early. In hindsight, I should have been more careful about trusting a team that beat one opponent with a winning record this season (Air Force).
