I usually avoid threads like these as I tend to find that no-one's ever heard of my personal favourites - but seeing as Dead Can Dance were mentioned on the first page here, I'll share a few faves:

Cocteau Twins - Millimillenary

The Sundays - Goodbye

Curve - Horror Head

and lastly a slice of British techno from the early nineties, Eon - The Spice Must Flow. They also has another song called 'Fear is the Mindkiller' which sampled Kyle McLachlan.

That Cocteau Twins song sounds like New Order meets Lisa Gerrard.
I remember The Sundays from something, but I can't place it. It may have been a soundtrack or someone playing stuff at a party.
I like Curve. They have a somewhat unconventional sound. Interesting song.
Can't say I'm crazy about Eon.

The reason I like threads like this is that they normally provide a chance to hear music that I might never hear about otherwise. The short time this thread as been up here on the board, (and the 'Last Song You Heard' thread over at Worm's) has provided me with an opportunity to hear songs that I might never had heard otherwise. And several of them I have liked but I know would have never been played on the radio stations to which I normally listen.

So please keep the suggestions coming, all of you.

I don't listen to the radio so I've no idea what of my preferred music is played over the airwaves. I assume most of it must be, since I know many of the acts to which I listen are popular, even though most aren't classified as "pop music."

Well, I feel like mixing it up a bit, so I'm gonna throw out a variety of good stuff
First up, some very dramatic music...

Like those first three. Thanks a lot for posting those. And of course I remember Zeplain. That brings back memories of listening to my brother's records trying not to get caught. (hahaha)

but I'm not for sure about that last one. It was very interesting and I I like the music. It's just that everytime I hear "Son of Sam" I think of that serial killer who went by that name.

Haven't heard that for a while - I put in on a CD I made to listen to during my final A-Level Art exam.
