The funny thing for me about the holiday season, is that I quite enjoy it. As an naturalistic pantheist, I've got no awe for any God mankind has ever written about, but when it comes to Christmas songs, I love the old Jesusy ones much more than the contemporary crap (anything written in the last 100 years or so). If it mentions Santa, or Rudolph, or chestnuts, then it's no good. Give me the epic, Godly, angelic stuff. It's got heart.

A guy at work (same one that did Thanksgiving this year) is having a party at his place this weekend, so I'm kinda looking forward to that. (Have to work on Xmas Eve; am taking Xmas and the day after off and then it's holidays until Jan. 5.

I don't think it ever really did. The church decided to celibrate Jesus' birth December 25th because it was near the pagan Winter Solstice holiday, IIRC.
