Re: Your Favorite TV shows
They're spinning the Nostradamus/2012 connection bullshit on History over here now. (Evidently I don't get History International, either. Go figure!)
I've mentioned this before, but I really got a kick out of "UFO Hunters". Now we're back to "Monster Quest" reruns. The Brazilian pterodactyls (pterosaurs, they called them) episode last week was pretty funny. (Bint was really looking forward to the episode on killer kurage Japanese jellyfish, but it turned out to be extremely uninspiring. More fun watching Morimoto skewer squid on "Iron Chef Amerika". )
"The Universe" rules.

I miss the glory days of the History Channel, back when it was "All Germans, All The Time!" They used to show so much WWII stuff that my wife eventually began walking by and saying, "Are the Nazis winning yet?"
Really, for a while there, it was either Modern Marvels, History's Mysteries, or Germans fighting in the snow. Those were your three choices.

Rag and I used to call it the Hitler Channel. "See that little "H?" we'd ask. "That stands for Hitler."TheDukester wrote:I miss the glory days of the History Channel, back when it was "All Germans, All The Time!" Watching "How the Earth Was Made" now, love it. This episode is about Iceland.

I see. I don't have History International Channel either. I have to stick to the Discovery Channel and National Geographic.Nekhrun wrote:I mean to say that aside from The Universe, History Channel is shit and rarely has anything to do with history. all the good stuff is on History International, a premium channel ...
what used to be on the regular History, leaving us with Pawn Pickers & Ancient Sexy Aliens ...
PS: My provider doesn't have this HI channel in its package.

Re: Your Favorite TV shows
Of course, even "The Universe" has its moments...
Like episode #41 ... "Sex in Space".
It's on right now as I type this, and the segment with Vanna Bonta & her hubby trying out "docking maneuvers" in her snazzy "Two-Suit" on one of those zero-gravity plane flights. (You know, the plane climbs and dives in a parabolic path, temporary simulating a zero-gravity environment during the free-fall dive parts.)
It's kinda hard to take even Michio Kaku seriously after that.
Edit: came back in to correct a typo (yeah, I'm anal retentive like that); they were just discussing the "viagra effect" of being in low-gee.
Now they're on to the effects of zero or low gravity on fetus development during gestation. Highly Dune-relevant with respect to Guild Navigators!

Re: Your Favorite TV shows
There's not much I like on TV this time of year, and my favorite show got put on hiatus till Spring (Community).
Right now I watch:
The Good Wife
Once Upon a Time (yeah, chick show)
Sanctuary
The Layover (Anthony Bourdain's new travel/food show)
Castle
Grimm (too many fairytale shows)
I'll stop and watch almost any Ancient Alien rerun, I love that shit. The guy with the big hair and the orange face cracks me up. As the show got popular, his hair got bigger and his face more orange. I'll also watch The Universe reruns (or new ones when they're on), and various other science shows. There's a new show called Civilization Lost that seems to use some of the same people as "experts" from Ancient Aliens, but they don't mention aliens, saw part of that and it was pretty interesting.

That's the guy! He's on Twitter and he gets pissed about all kinds of goofy shit. He is hilarious. If you can get him mad about something, he'll use twitlonger and post lengthy rants.

Well, Wikipedia says he's a Swiss born Greek, so maybe he has a mixed accent. Ancient Aliens wouldn't be worth watching without him!

That show is hilarious, EVERYTHING EVER - it was aliens, it's always aliens.
The funniest thing is that the morons on that show are basically doing their own coverup job - if aliens ever were here nobody would believe it anyways because right now the people on TV talking about it are obvious nutcases.

Re: Your Favorite TV shows
That's what I love - if I was the aliens the very first thing I'd do is grab all the biggest idiot humans I could find (like those guys) and tell them that every single structure ever built was done by, with or for aliens. Every single god/angel/etc - those were aliens. All the ghost stories? Aliens. Every single event that ever happened, EVER, was aliens.Freakzilla wrote:That's EXACTLY what the aliens WANT you to think.A Thing of Eternity wrote:That show is hilarious, EVERYTHING EVER - it was aliens, it's always aliens.

Then I'd put those people back on earth and WHAM. Instantly less sane people will believe in aliens being involved.
