I don't get the Judeo-Islamic thing, either. That ole Semitic cliquishness kicking in again?
Christianity was an apocalypticist Jewish revivalist movement. Jews with issues. "Paulianity" is the everybody's-welcome mystery religion that it grew into after that Hellenized nit from Tarsus seized control. Islam is the mishmash mess that grew out of the delusions of an Arab merchant who was no stranger to either Jewish or Christian beliefs and who liked to sit in a cave listening to voices in his head.
If you'd rather be more closely associated with the followers of a real raver, well, mazel tov!

I am a turd. Do not emulate me, or Omphalos shall mock you as well.

You're expecting atheists to argue FOR religion? Are you insane?moreh_yeladim wrote:Arguing against annoying extremist atheists does not mean one is arguing for religion in specific or in general.

Because the actual practices of an observant Jew and an observant Muslim are closer to each other than either is to the practices of an observant Orthodox Christian, Catholic, or member of the vast majority of branches of Protestantism. Amtal, man, the test of a thing is its behavior in the real world!SandChigger wrote:I don't get the Judeo-Islamic thing, either. That ole Semitic cliquishness kicking in again?

Actually, too many actual religions utterly fail to apply that principle.
Muhammad brought bastardized Judaism to the Arabs, who turned around and used it as an excuse to slaughter Jews. Woops!
Brian Herbert is a perfect example of why you shouldn't leave a universe-spanning empire to your next of kin.

Self defense. Something that was unavailable to Jews for the first 1,300 or so years of the Jewish/Muslim "relationship".
Ladies and gentlemen...
Paul of Dune was so bad it gave me a seizure that dislocated both of my shoulders and prolapsed my anus.
