Turns out one of the biggest SF awards has never had a proper logo  So they're holding a contest to design one.

(edit - shit money though :? ... what was it Heinlein said about alturism?)

Sorry for the double-post, but I was looking for a place to post this, anyway, and now there's a Hugos thread ...

Anyway, here's a great site for Hugos history:

There's all different kinds of ways you can manipulate the data. For instance, here's a shot of Frank Herbert's individual page:

... which is kind of neat, because it shows, at a glance, that FH was nominated three times and won once. The entries for some of the Old Guard are pretty impressive; Robert Silverberg, for instance, has quite the colorful chart.

The best part: nowhere on this site are Kevin J. Anderson or Brian Herbert ever mentioned. Apparently, only real authors are eligible for Hugo nominations.

As opposed to "Pass the lube!" circle-jerk awards like the Nebulas? :(

Yeah, I'm beginning to wonder if I got some bad information when I was just a wee little SF fan ... I always thought both sets of awards were about equal in importance.

However, in doing some research, I'm finding myself much more impressed by the average Hugo year as opposed to the average Nebula year. Overall, the Hugo seem like the stronger award. And they've never even nominated Hacky and Whatsisface, which is a huge item in their favor.
