I'm wondering how much of this is because tax day was yesterday.

Yeah, it is polarized!
I know there are a few academics that are predicting the split up of the Uniion down the dixie line. I really hope it does not come to that.

Re: Anti-Obama 'tea party' protests mark US tax day
I seriously doubt it will ever come to that again. People might vehemently disagree with the people who hold certain governmental offices, but I honestly don’t believe it has come to the point of secession from the union, not in this economy and not with 4 years flying by so fast. Heck, we will be electing a new congress next year so…SwordMaster wrote:Yeah, it is polarized!

Times are tough and people are angry. They will blow off some steam and maybe, if we are lucky, the politicians will listen to some of the average citizens once again.
What fear is there in the night?

I think Obama is doing everything for the middle class, as Eyes High put it, the avg. citizen, tax the rich and lay off the ones who struggle, why is this concept so hard for Americans to understand, even the ones who are not rich.... I will never get that

Re: Anti-Obama 'tea party' protests mark US tax day
"My own sense that is I don't see anything going on that is good for Republicans," said Doug Bailey, a longtime Republican consultant who helped co-found the centrist reform movement Unity08. "I just don't get it. It may be, and I don't doubt this, that there is a large segment of the American public that can and is riled up about taxes and can be riled up about one thing or another. But a large segment, in terms of numbers, doesn't amount to a couple hundred people demonstrating in Washington or wherever. That's a non-event ... Nobody likes taxes. So, of course, I'm sympathetic myself. I might throw a tea bag myself. But the fact is, that it is particularly ineffective for the Republican Party when it is Rush Limbaugh and the likes stirring it up. That just doesn't speak to the middle."
Of course, because the series of nationwide tea parties were geared towards a specific day (Tax Day), the political ramifications of the events seem naturally limited. "Those tea parties will be long forgotten by, oh, say tomorrow," said Stu Rothenberg, of the Rothenberg Political Report. "Do you really think that next November, when people go to the polls, the April 15 tea parties will be on their minds?"

As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Hypatia approaches one.

I used to have hope that once a younger generation got into power things would change for the better, now I'm not so sure.Eyes High wrote:I seriously doubt it will ever come to that again. One of the clever signs I saw from the rallies was, "Keep the change, Obama!"
Revolution doesn't have to be violent, I don't think it will come to that. The lack of violence after this past Presidential election has given me a little hope.

Re: Anti-Obama 'tea party' protests mark US tax day
The irony of the "young" generation is huge, thats why Obama is the pres, they young generation voted for him just like the Christain right wingers voted for Bush. This is how the system works. When your party does not win the election, you start a revolution?
wild
and consider the fact Bush did not even win the 1st time!
Here are my favorite signs from these FOX NEWS protests.
And the kids being pimped out!! These poor kids do not even know why they are holding the signs, other the Glen Beck told people, BRING YOUR KIDS OUT TO A PROTEST! Great Idea Glen
Classy stuff. Way to go guys! Force your kids to hold up signs about politics they do not understand. Anyone else think children should be doings things like, playing, drawing, learning to read and write?
Here is another classy example
What would we impeach hiom for? I thought he won the election?
This is a really good one here
Oh I must have missed that you are a nation of 1 single religon.
Im glad Jesus himself made it out to the protests.
This guy is really good at photoshop.
Good job tea bags!

Thought you would like that. So did they parents take their kids out of school for the protest? Did you bring your children to the protest? Seems kind of like using them as puppets.
Obama is Hitler! You have to admit those folks sort of take away the legitimacy of these protests.

I didn't go, I had to work late... every day this week. My kids do not stay home from school unless the doctor orders it.

Congrats. Good parenting is always easy to spot and I knew you would not be the type to bring out the kids. But I wonder about those who do. Yes indeed half the people. I was always pissed off when left wing extreemists compaired Bush to the devil or Stalin or whatever, because thats just crazy talk. Unfortunatly protests ajnd the like tend to bring out the really wild types.Freakzilla wrote:Half the people... oh, you know.SwordMaster wrote:Thought you would like that. I try not to take my kids on the Atlanta streets at all, it's not safe. That's why I live in rural Paulding County and have a 110 mile commute, I don't have to worry about them getting molested or killed by a random crackhead.SwordMaster wrote:Congrats.
