What current working actor would you cast for the nearly impossible role of Paul if you were casting a new dune film today?

Earlier I was thinking it would be ideal if you could find brothers, 15 and 18... or one and take three years filming in the desert.

Actually, you'd need someone more like 12, since he looked younger than he was.

I don't imagine that he did, but a little stubble would help the age change.

I dunno about Paul, but maybe Michael Ian Black as Duncan Idaho, David Wain as Thufir Hawat, and Michael Showalter as Gurney Halleck.

They'd be best to go with a talented unknown for Paul. Someone they could groom for the role rather than choosing an established talent. An unknown would make the character much more believable and the audience would be more accepting of him if they didn't have any preconceived public image of the actor.

That said, Ryan Gosling is a phenomenal actor that's older but might still be able to pull off the role.
Emile Hirsch would be a good choice. He can act and he's a runt.

Unknown is the only way forward.

Thomas Sangster - Last Legion and a Doctor Who ep (and he was going to be Tintin but isn't now) is the only 'known' name that comes to mind.... but he looks a bit wierd: I reckon he'd make a good Feyd rather than Paul.
