It's not exactly what his whole presidency is about, it's just the first big thing he decided to tackle. He would have done much better if he saved it for last, really, since people care more about the various wars we're fighting and getting jobs than medical care.

And Freak, I'm afraid it will take another two generations or so to get a better,
less biased perspective of the Carter presidency. Jimmy Carter was much like
Obama, elected in a brief, passing concern for humanity over profit. Jimmy sold
us Hope the same way Obama did, but the pols in DC ate him alive, the media
turned against him, and the nation decided it liked being rich and mean-spirited.

of course, CNN pissed me the fuck off big time this week - made note of the
fact that Joe Wilson was a member of the SCV - went on to quote the
Southern Poverty Law Center (of which I've been a past contributor) that
the SCV president was a known Klansman and published a white-supremacy
newspaper.

Which was true, in 2002. This was the guy that damn near destroyed the SCV,
and we barely got him & his crew out. They went on to form the "League of the
South" & we've spent the last 8 years trying to separate the SCV from them.

or, maybe, just maybe, CNN grabbed the first google item on the SCV that fit
the story they wanted to tell.

not saying the Joe Wilson is or is not Klan - don't really care, but I can state
that the SCV is not the Klan. (Altho there are certainly SCV members who are
also Klan or related. Again, don't care about that, neither)

the longer you live tho, the more incidents like this you'll witness - the "media"
will mis-report something you've been personally involved in - all this does is
teach you to take everything they say with a grain of salt.

I don't know why SOME people try to 'play the race card' in almost every situation. To me it's clear that who ever did this poster was simply calling the President a clown. In their opinion he is nothing more than a big joker. Simple and clear cut.

You know sometimes a tree is just a tree. Maybe if we as a people would stop trying to read more into things than are really there, then prehaps some of the disagreements of this world could be avoid.

I know there is racism in this world. But that DOES NOT mean that everything is racial motivated.

It would be a racial matter if they compared him to X-zibit or Wesley Snipes' Phoenix(the vilain in Demolition Man for the youngest)
