Ole Dune Pussy Purrs Again
Ole Dune Prune Announces the Upcoming WoD on Dumbnovels.
"Unquestionably, Herbert & Anderson can spin a great yarn; while technically producing a vivid, mystifying universe, filled with characters that are both endearing, and loathsome. I recommend this one highly, but be warned, if this is the first Dune book you are reading, get ready to hit the bookstore, because I promise you, it will not be the last!"
Yes, they unquestionable can spin quote a load.
Yes, the duniverse they created is very mystifying...what the fuck!
Yes, we find the characters loathsome (ok, boring).
Yes, be ready to hit the used bookstore when you trade in the book for something better (or credit).
Finally, Byron unequivocally recommends again another interquel (does anyone out there still doubt for even a second Byron's position on this issue).

lol, i wonder how many future interquels they'll write which take place in between their current interquels. i also wonder if they'll be as endearing(tm) and mystifying(c) and as dark... yes... very dark(tm)(c). IMO, they'll need to add more loathsome evil-paul gholas. perhaps they could feature a scene where good-paul and evil-paul-ghola-from-the-future fight in a circus. it would look like this:
but of course we all know how it would end. the oracle of time would appear before them and show them the true meaning of christmas.

I'm mystified by those dumbshit remarks. He really had me fooled for the first couple years. I never expected him to be such a shill. I've already pronounced DN dead, but I wonder when they're just going to shut it down.

At least Teg added quotation marks here. ByrByr doesn't in the OP when he quotes.

A farce for sure, but I can understand his motive to keep the golden goose fed. At the same time, unless he's getting something out of all this BS, I feel a lot of pity for the guy

I'm a subscriber to Chiggie's argument: he's gritting his teeth and hoping he gets some sort of Dune writing assignment down the road, either as a replacement for when TheKJA gets fired or as a replacement for Brian when they finally wheel him off to the sanitarium.
Other than that? I'd guess he gets a small percentage of the annual return, and that's about it. He "runs" the Dumbnovels site for free, that's a guarantee.

Maybe that won't be too long now. BoBoHoBo's looking pretty old and frayed in some of those pix. And if he starts having more "complicated" days....TheDukester wrote:a replacement for Brian when they finally wheel him off to the sanitarium
Seriously, I hope the old bastard reaps the deserts of everything he's done, physically and mentally and with a righteous vengeance.

Is ByrByr really this stupid? - someone asks about changes in the PoD paperback cover art, and he goes off mentioning the WoD cover art

Re: Ole Dune Pussy Purrs Again
I will admit (and have in the past) that several covers to the Dune prequels feature well made artwork that I enjoyed viewing. The cover art is the only real virtue of the prequel books.
However, I find it VERY telling of these books (and their fans) that the subject of "covers" appears to be discussed on Dumpnovels nearly as much or more than the actual books themselves. And if I know geeks, a lot of these sad preqs are buying these lousy KJA Dune novels to satisfy their anal need to collect. I see it all the time with film: I've known numerous film geeks who admit the first Pirates, Matrix and Spider-Man movies were the only good ones, but they were all unable to deny an apparently irresistible compulsion to collect the subsequently lousy sequels. It seems most preqs just cannot resist the need to have a "trilogy" of pretty colored books sitting on their shelves.
When I talk books, 99% of the time I'm singing the praises of the writing and the content of the books, almost never the covers (even when the covers warrant praise).

Re: Ole Dune Pussy Purrs Again
I think part of it is that THEY have been making a big deal of the covers since Hunters (a little) and Sandworms (a lot more), based on the CLOSE PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP between KJA, BoBo & Stephen Youll ... which KJA can hardly shut up about.
And then of course there was just the total head-up-ass-stupid seaworms illustration for Sadworms that just could NOT be ignored because of the implications for what was going to be in the book. (Remember how Byron tried to play it down, "Oh, covers rarely have anything to do with the content, just some artists concept" and Shawn Webdud piped up and said, "Yes they do!" and he was right. For once. And Byron looked the clueless tool, as usual. )
Since most of the mouthbreathers over there move their lips when they read, it's taking them longer to get through the book, simple as it is. Eventually they'll finish reading and start talking about it.
Or they could do like the shills over on Amazon, and talk about it even without reading it.
(I still like Youll's work. But the more I look at the full Winds illustration, the more I like it. Of course there are stupid little "wrong" details, but that's why there's artistic license, right? )

DUNE FANS Q AND A
Q—Are there plans to write more Dune novels after
the Heroes of Dune series?
A—Nothing is set in stone at this time, but fans have
requested certain time frames to be explored and the
authors are considering those.
Q— Are there any plans to do a Dune tour outside of
the US?
A—The British publisher is currently planning to do a
signing tour in England for 2010 (possibly Kevin only,
due to Brian’s travel limitations)
{edit - put the fuzzy headed bitch on a boat !}
Q—Are there any plans for more Dune miniseries on
the Sci-Fi Channel?
