"I firmly believe that authors have a right to write, and that readers have the right to read any book that pleases them."
Yes and yes.
And how, exactly, is anyone here doing a single thing to prevent either of those things from happening? What
magical powers are we using to prevent these hypothetical readers from reading any damn book they choose?
Readers, in turn have a right to provide constructive criticism to an author in a responsible and respectful manner. If you do not like the books an author writes, you do not have to purchase it or read it.
First sentence:
demonstrably untrue. Lots of books have been published by complete assholes. Or morons. Or wife-beaters, thieves, and drunks. Books have been written by
murderers, for crying out loud. Just because your name is on a dust-jacket does not guarantee some sort of bizarre
right to being addressed in a "responsible and respectful manner." That sort of thing is
earned, Brian, not given away to any idiot who has managed to get something published.
Second sentence: preek argument #1.

"Anything I write will be remembered and listed in bibliographies on Dune for several hundred years ..." — some delusional halfwit troll.
