And didn't you tell us once that the guy on the right is a blowhard and that you wished he would just STFU?

But he's a staff lieutenant general, what can you do?

(Looks like SR is a marine lieutenant (or captain, beard covering up the bars).)

Blue was regular infantry, north & south.
(red - artillery, yellow- cavalry, both north & south)
Green was Medical Corps in the Federal Army,
the CSA didn't have a regular Medical Corps as such,
but the Regimental Surgeons wore green sashes with
dress uniform.

CSA Marines wore blue piping - not sure about the Federal Army.
(don't care much)

rank is also displayed by the "Austrian Knot", the golden braid
on the sleeve - the more strands in the Knot, the more people
you got to order around.

I remember I was going to post the graphics I have for all
this the last time I posted that pic, I think ChaniLuver had
asked about it, but I never got around to it.

And yes, The General is quite the blowhard.
And that was at last year's SCV Christmas Banquet,
and I was quite the stumbling drunk.

anyway, back to business,
and keeping with the Japanese theme :

Branch Colors: Light blue - 65014 cloth; 67120 yarn; PMS 5415.

The Infantry has made two complete cycles between white and light blue. During the Revolutionary War, white facings were prescribed for the Infantry. White was the color used for Infantry until 1851 at which time light or saxony blue was prescribed for the pompon and for the trimming on Infantry horse furniture. In 1857, the color was prescribed as light or sky blue. In 1886, the linings of capes and trouser stripes were prescribed to be white. However, in 1902, the light blue was prescribed again. In 1917, the cape was still lined with light blue but the Infantry trouser stripes were of white as were the chevrons for enlisted men. The infantry color is light blue; however, infantry regimental flags and guidons have been National Flag blue since 1835. White is used as a secondary color on the guidons for letters, numbers, and insignia.

ah, yes.

When you get into re-enacting, which you will,
you will be known to us casuals as a "Stitch-nazi" ....
{edit - I'm also sporting a burgundy sash, which ain't authentic no-where,
but my second wife made that for me, and I don't have a blue one, sky or otherwise ...]

Always bitching about their hair & other people's clothes & telling me how me how
much weight they've lost since the last event."

Having served with the US Army as a Cavalry Scout in and Infantry unit (3rd ID 1/15th INF "Can Do!" "Rock of the Marne" Audie Murphy's Unit) I got to see lots of sky blue. And I trained with marines at Ft. Knox.

The Infantry (us Armored Cavalry and the Tankers called them "crunchies") have the distinction of wearing a light blue background on their dress lapel branch insignia (crossed rifles) which no other branch does. But the Cavalry gets to wear spurs and stetsons once earned, so :P

What the Fuck ? I mean, really ??

if photobucket deemed the first one "offensive" or "racist" or whatever,
why not the second one ? absolute BULLSHIT.

and what kinda shitheel trolls thru photobucket accounts, anyway ?

I'm assuming there's way too many pics for their "staff" to do it,
I'm assuming the pic was "reported" by some touchy bitch like Brian Conway.

I am seriously pissed off about this.

not laughing.
