yep I like the lynch movie cause it looks cool, sets and costumes are like I imagined them

Thing is first time i saw it i'd read the books so many times that it didn't matter to me what they left out or changed, i just edited in my mind :)

I was thankful to have read Dune first, too.

I would have hated to have seen the movie first, then picked up the book and been unable to get Kyle McLaughlin's hair, or the weirding modules, or the cartoon Harkonnens, or the plug-up-the-nose stillsuits, or Sting out of my mind.

I rushed through Dune the first time in 1984 to finish before the movie opened.

You did it 1984. I think some are doing it today before they read PoD, WoD, ToD, and LoD.

That's funny when you say it together. PoD'WoD'ToD'LoD.

Even Pinky & The Brian's naming conventions show a lack of originality and creativity. FH was obviously finished with the "of Dune" Titles when he wrote Chapterhouse: Dune. I think Hunted: Dune would have been better.

The 'Of Dune' titles don't really make sense without Dune anyway.

It really is dangerously close to being easily parodied. A few more "of Dune" titles will have some of us older folks flashing back to the ridiculous "Conan the [add noun here]" era.

So if they re-write Dune for this abomination of a movie they're making, are they going to call it...

DUNE OF DUNE?

Dune of Dune by Keith J. Anderjacket & the Other Guy

Award nominated bestselling hiking Jacket and the Other Guy continue their much-beloved expansion of the far from over saga of Dune in this action-packed suspenseful thrilling action-packed continuation of their best-selling expansion of FRANK HERBERT'S DUNE.

Filling the gaps in the story left left behind by FRANK HERBERT, using FRANK HERBERT'S OWN NOTES, Dune of Dune tells the story of a single sanddune, drifting on the surface of Arrakis (the planet known as DUNE) for thousands of years. This dune has seen the coming of the Fremen, the mining of the spice, the battle for control of DUNE, the trials and tribulations of Paul Atreides (The Maudib of the Fremen) and his Children.

Grains of this dune are taken along with the last surviving sandworms (the Makers, so called because they make the spice) to the Chapterhouse of the evil Bene Gesserit witches, hell-bent on domination of the Universe. These grains of sand hold the memories of the original dune, and all its wisdom.

A triumph of imagination, award nominated bestselling author Anderjacket has outdone himself in this latest effort to continue the vision of FRANK HERBERT, with some help from the Other Guy.

A must-read for all serious Dune fans !!!!

Very nice.

What's scary is that there's some fools out there in preek-land (some, not all) who would eat that shit right up.

You know, they just might be able to get away with it if they mix up the capitalization. Like: Dune of DUNE.
