^^For PKD, try Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep or Martian Time Slip as an intro, then see if you like him.

dear sirs:

I object to Sandwurm88's title,
and request it be altered to
"smells of Sole Man",
"smells like Sole Man", or
"the New & Improved Sole Man"

or some-such similar thing

thank you,
a loyal customer

We could go international. Say "Odeurs comme le Sloey"

Or grunge? "Smells like Sloey's Spirit"

Neal Stephenson!

The only guy I've read who has as many (sometimes more) themes going as good 'ole Frank.
Cryptonomicon is information science, computers, the breaking of the German Enigma codes and whether an economy that is gold-based is really any different than one that is not - all taken as science fiction topics, and all tied together. It is quite beautiful, and done with a warm humor. The Baroque Cycle continues and tackles vairous worldviews, eg. of Newton and Leibniz...
And Anathem is also great!

Anyway, the guy is also a Herbert fan, and I guess you do not need higher recommendation than that :-)

Hey, even KJA and BH say that they're Frank Herbert fans (the BIGGEST). Make me think of James 2:19, You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that--and shudder.
