yea - could anyone not? I was at my wifes side all the time, and could see when the little head came out. I'm dead proud of her, well both of them, but my wife really was a fighter, she hadn't slept for 2 days and lay in labors for 14 hrs yet she didn't scream but once (when the head came out) -other than that she just did a great job!

I was next to my wife when both my kids were born, but I was down at the business end of things when my son came out. "Disgustingly transformational" is how I think it's best described.

Congratulations.

Know how you get a nun pregnant?

Dress her up as an alter boy. :D

I watched the birth of my three kids, pretty traumatic. I was ready for an epidural after that.

you'd be ready for anything after that! (does reading the hack's dicated prose count though, that would count as pretty traumatic too wouldn't it?)

Thanks all :-)

@Omphalos I wasn't looking up into the birthing machine, but I could see a great deal of what happening, and to be honest I'll describe it as beautiful..with lots and lots of gore on the top ;-)

@Serkanner - her name (almost certain now) will be Johanne (pronounced Yohanne). After my wifes grandmother. both my wife and I like "old" names.

@Eyes
ohh yea - I'm oiling the double barrelled and when the lil' gents comes I'll be setting and waiting in a rocking chair with the gun in my lap and dog at my feet ;-)

As for epidural - that was actually the only time I left the room. Needles makes me go out - and the good doctor told me to go for a walk, they didn't want to spend time bringing me back to life again. But I still have stomach aches from all the "pushing" I did ;-)

And a great deal of poo, too.

hey, you can't push for that long end expect any bodily orifice to remain closed and locked for the duration. I think even her eyelids were dialated to 10cm.

I was warned about that in a class we took before the first child but it really doesn't prepare you for the reality of it.
