Actually, 15 seconds of his voice is a struggle. There is a fair bit of quite telling stuff in that interview though.

How do you do it when you do it?
When I've transcribed things, I open the file in QuickTime and select about a minute stretch and set it to Loop and Play Selection Only. Then I just open a word processor file and type in whatever bits I can catch and just repeat the process until that section is finished, then move on to the next minute.
Haven't done it for a while now so I don't remember how long it takes per minute, but I think that first sample chapter of Sandworms that I transcribed took less than an hour.

Too much stress in the method. Especially when the content is stressful enough on its own!
