and I wouldn't expect Merritt to dig around for an easily-obtainable answer
before posting another "Gee, IDK." ...

and then completely forgetting/ignoring it ....

Good question. It's been a while since I listened to it so i don't recall. I loaned out my audio CDs and haven't gotten them back yet.

doesn't even say, "Good question, let me check on that and get back to you ..."

on the whole a totally appropriate MouthPiece for OCD ...

No. I listen to a lot of audio presentations, and I've never yet run into things like appendices, footnotes, endnotes, or whatever actually being read out.

Although, in the case of Dune, they would certainly be a welcomed addition, I wouldn't expect them to be there.
The George Guidall audiobook has Appendices 1-3 (Ecology, Religion, BG Motives) at the end.

The audio version I have read by Scott Brick also has the Appendices.

Connor O'Brien (god I hate that man's voice) doesn't and neither does the Audio Renaissance (full cast but missing all the "he said" and "she snapped"s etc) version.

But avoid those two anyway tbh.

So there we have it. Byron could've easily gotten a reply to his biggest fan if only he asked the question, or took a minute to look it up. Instead he gives some bullshit excuse for why he doesn't know it. That's the kind of shit he should just know off the top of his head. He's only got room in his head for:
  • Oh shit! I'd better delete this before Keith finds out!
    Valid Point
    Freakin' Meow

Oh yeah. Fixed. That was a new one, they must've been schooling him on board management techniques in the time it took him to answer that questions.

Keith: Just pretend you don't know what they're talking about.
Byron: Uhh, how do I do that Boss?
Keith: :?:
Byron: How do I do that Boss?
Keith: :?:
Byron: I SAID, HOW DO I DO THAT?
Byron: ...Long pause...heh, heh.
Keith winks at him knowingly and they embrace in a soft hug.

After embracing in a soft hug, they start laughing until they trip and fall over each other. A knowing look passes from Keith to Byron.

Must... stop... must get terrible images... out of my mind... ABOMINATION!
