Re: Samuel L. Jackson announces 'Avengers' cast
Haven't seen a movie in a theater since ... 1994 or 1995. One of those two. I could look it up, but I can't be bothered.
It sort of makes me sad, actually. I used to love going to the movies when I was younger. Part of it was going and goofing off with my friends, sure, but I also enjoyed seeing the films. That part's just long gone, apparently.

So who's playing the part of John Steed

Inception was pretty good.
I always want to take the time to repeat my stand that when someone says they don't read comics, to me that is tantamount to saying "I don't read."
Sequntial Art should be seen as a whole medium not just Superhero comics...
A few examples of non-superhero genre comics on the big screen:

Yeah, the backstory for Wonder Woman was rebooted and her personality and costume re-designed. Her new origin is essentially Superman's, with whatever her island is called having been destroyed by Hades and her being sent out to the "World of Man" as an infant.merkin muffley wrote:They gave Wonder Woman some kind of update recently, didn't they? I would think that a movie is inevitable. I'm all for it, and when I say "it" I mean "bondage."
Old and new costume:
I like it but it's not really "Wonder Woman". Of course a metal bikini wasn't fitting either, but the least they could do is try to look somewhat Greek.
I agree with you there, though a lot of people would argue that they're not comics, they're "graphic novels" or some shit like that. Like a different word really changes the fact it's still illustrated panels with speech balloons.Apjak wrote:I always want to take the time to repeat my stand that when someone says they don't read comics, to me that is tantamount to saying "I don't read."

Sorry, I really should have your back on this one, as I'm a lifelong comics fan (capes when I was younger; a bit more selective now). I enjoy graphic storytelling (well, good graphic storytelling), but many people don't, or else have never tried it, or else have never heard of it. That doesn't make them poor readers or non-readers. That's just silly elitism.

Re: Samuel L. Jackson announces 'Avengers' cast
isn't separating graphic novels from literature a form of elitism?
I'm not saying they are or should be for that matter, just that a lot of people consider them as works of art and not knowing about them is a miss if you like good stories

I would like to suggest that Apjak was using a little bit of rhetorical hyperbole when he said that saying "I don't read comics" is the same as saying "I don't read." Because that would be complete horseshit, if taken at face value.
But I like graphic novels.

This is the way I see it. Comics and "graphic novels" are just another form of literature.lotek wrote:isn't separating graphic novels from literature a form of elitism?

So what do you call novels or anthological magazines with illustrations?

ZING!
Leto II is gone for good, except for OM. The "pearl" was just that; a miniscule portion of what Leto was, and not a compressed version of the whole. The pearl that the worms have do not make them Leto, or in any way similar to him.
