Re: global warming
Atlanta weather | Hot week may reach record levels
Mike Benzie, Yahoo! Atlanta Editor
June will welcome the Atlanta area with heat. Highs are expected to reach the mid-90s Wednesday and Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. Wednesday's high is forecast for 96; Thursday's, for 95. In fact, highs in the 90s are expected through next Tuesday and may be here a while.
"People don't want to hear it this early, but we've basically slipped into a summer pattern," said Lans Rothfusz, meteorologist in charge with the National Weather Service.
Chris Warren, on-camera meteorologist with the Weather Channel, said there won't be a significant break, at least not through the weekend. "It's going to be either very hot or hot," Warren said.
The record high for June 1 is 97, set in 1945, according to the National Weather Service. The June 2 record of 98 was set more than 100 years ago on 1895, and the June 3 mark of 96 degrees was set in 1936. Warren expects we'll be pushing record highs across the state.
The Channel 2 Severe Weather team is forecasting near-100-degree temperatures across Georgia as well, with highs of 98 in LaGrange and Athens and 99 in Eatonton.
The Weather Channel reports that the heat will continue across the region and hit near-record levels from Alabama to the Carolinas. Temperatures are expected to be about 15 degrees above the average.

Freak, it's 98 here, admittedly with low humidity, but I'm at 7100 feet above sea level, we're setting record highs.

Re: global warming
It's been in the 60s to 70s here for a week (70s solid before that, for weeks) with an occasional gentle rain, and goodly amounts of snow up in the Sierras. All things considered, I hope it stays this way. This might be the first time in decades that we can generate power and water all our crops, we've got so much water up there now.
I was in San Antonio a few weeks ago, and it was nasty humid there. I think it was 92 when I got there at 2pm and 91 twelve hours later at 2am. Fuuuuuuuuuget that!

Re: global warming
This spring has been the driest spring since "forever" here in The Netherlands. That might cause things like this:
Note: since may tenth when this video was made it has hardly rained at all ... more problems by the week.

Re: global warming
And of course, for the last few weeks we've had heavy rains (and even hail at one point) in Ireland! Although that seems to have changed - it was really warm today.

Well, it's going from cold and rainy to pushing 90 with 80% humidity in Minneapolis today. Looks like we're skipping Spring this year.

We're in the mid '90s but it's been raining so it's like a sauna.
