You cannot know history unless you know how leaders move with its currents.
Every leader requires outsiders to perpetuate his leadership. Examine my
career: I was leader and outsider. Do not assume I merely created a Church-
State. That was my function as leader and I copied historical models. Barbaric
arts of my time reveal me as outsider. Favorite poetry: epics. Popular
dramatic ideal: heroism. Dances: wildly abandoned. Stimulants to make people
sense what I took from them. What did I take? The right to choose a role in
history.

Reverend Mother Lucilla has escaped the destruction of Lampadas and has the Shared Other Memory of the millions of RMs killed there. She made it to Gammu where she has gone into hiding with the help of a group of Jews, led by a retired Suk Doctor Rabbi. The BG has been helping the Jews keep their religion underground since before The Battle of Corrin. The Rabbi introduces her to his daughter, Rebbeca. Rebbeca has undergone The Agony independantly and is a wild Reverend Mother. She shares the Lampadas horde with Lucilla. The Rabbi plans to sell Lucilla out to the HMs. It is the only way to save themselves and their credibility.
