Greetings,
In 1984 I was 12 and thought Dune would be the next Star Wars. I bought the toys and the glossy Dune Movie magazines.
I went to the cinema to see the film. I was dissappointed and found it boring.
In the mid-80s I read all 6 books. I was still young, found them quite boring.
Since then I re-read the 6 books regularly and grew to love and enjoy them. I became a bit of a Frank Herbert fanatic in the 90s and read what must be 95% of his entire published work. I think the Jorj X. McKie stories (Whipping Star / Dosadi Experiment) come close to Dune. Some of his other work is also good (Dragon in the Sea), some not so great (Heaven Makers ... )
About 3 years ago I gave away ALL my Frank Herbert books except Dune 1-5. I actually gave away my copy of Chaptehouse by mistake! So my yearning to re-possess a copy of Chapterhouse has re-ignited my interest and led me back to Dune on the web.
cheers

Paul of Dune was so bad it gave me a seizure that dislocated both of my shoulders and prolapsed my anus.

Hey I was 12!
Forgot 2say I so grew to love the film. I haven't seen the extended version yet.
I love David Lynch. It's a shame he doesn't seem to take more pride in Dune.

To be honest, I haven't seen Lynch's other work (though I constantly heard about Twin Peaks when I was in my teens.)
I actually love the David Lynch Dune film, and love it's musical scores and atmospheric motifs.
Welcome to the sietch, I hope you will have a wonderful stay here! *Bows*
