I was actually looking at IMDB this weekend and there it listed him as actually being cast as Rabban.

Cool, although I don't know her work at all.

I wonder if they'll do any Lynch returns as homange. Like for instance Patrick Stewart as Shaddam, or Kyle Maclachlan as Dr. Kynes.

One of the shooting locations is Budapest?!?!?! Fuck, were the old sets in Prague destroyed?

Remember the majesty of those desert scenes shot in Prague in the miniseries?

Don't send them back to Prague. That's where the hats are!

She was in Red Sparrow, which was a pretty awful film, although I thought she was fine. She can certainly play the intimidating matronly character.

They've chosen Oscar Isaac to play Poe Dameron Duke Leto.

Not sure about this choice.

Is Star Wars the only thing you've seen him in? He's pretty awesome in Annihilation and Ex Machina.

Yes, I've only seen him in Star Wars. Good to hear he's done better things.

I think Oscar Isaac is a good choice for Leto. I've thought for a number of years that he'd make a good Duncan Idaho, but I am sure he will do great as Leto.

Zendaya has been cast as Chani while Javier Bardem is Stilgar.

'Dune' Exclusive: Zendaya Eyed to Play Chani Opposite Timothée Chalamet

Javier Bardem in Talks to Join Denis Villeneuve's 'Dune'

Additionally, Rebecca Ferguson has discussed her role as Jessica:
I would never watch anyone's interpretation of Jessica. Obviously, I did watch David Lynch's Dune back in the day, and Jessica comes with characteristic traits. So, you can’t mess around with it. There’s a calm empowerment to being the Bene Gesserit that she is. I'm reading the book; I've read it. I have the script and Denis' ideas so I feel like I have so much to work with already. So, I'll just rock it as it comes I think. I'm flying over next week for a costume fitting which will be really exciting.

Happy with Bardem. He will do awesome.

Not so crazy about that other one, Zendaya. Kinda sucks in Spider-Man. Just sits there and looks bitchy. But, I am sure the world will love her, and I am just a crotchety old bastard. Anyway, fuck millennials.

She just isn't going to look right with red hair.

Funny how Zendaya is a Mary Jane-ersatz in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and was also criticized for not having red hair! It's possible they'll change it.

I'm fine with some visual distinction from the book descriptions. For example: the Baron need not necessarily be monstrously overweight. It's certainly possible they'll pad out Skarsgård, but I would not mind if he was of average, unremarked weight instead.

I was thinking much the same thing about Zendaya. All she's done, so far as I can tell, is hire an outstanding PR firm.

Dune was a real challenge; Denis Villeneuve brought me on. I had done some little bits of stuff for him for Arrival, and we really love each other personally. I turned in a really long draft, which I think was pretty cumbersome to make within the budget. I think the ideas were great, and I think they used most of them, but that needed a good look. I think Denis has…brought in another writer to trim it out, and get back to the book in some respects, so I think it’s exciting. The approach to it’s pretty wonderful, and it could be a beautiful movie.

Jason Momoa to play Duncan Idaho? I think Denis shat the bed with this choice. I am officially worried that his film will suck.

This feels like a concession to Brian's whinging.

Agree. That guy is such a blah actor.

However the steamy looks he gives the camera may draw in that important female demographic.

I've been satisfied with pretty much all of the choices thus far, and I like Momoa in general, but this is a really poor casting decision.
